A member of Integration Nation asked Dr. Robert Glover about his struggle with identifying which father figure to reference when stating his lineage due to his complex family background. Dr. Glover responded by assuring that this is a common struggle and that it is okay to choose whichever father figure resonates with him. He emphasized that this struggle is a part of dealing with paternal issues that every man faces to some degree, as no father is perfect. Dr. Glover explained that this struggle is part of the process of connecting with one’s masculine heritage and healing generational wounds. He suggested that should do what works best for him, whether it’s alternating between the names of his biological father and stepfather, or opting for a completely different reference.
